2001-2010: A decade of breathless cars!
Last decade was an era of splendid and awesome cars. The cars based on researched safety-measures and new computerized technology. I was always passionate about cars, since my childhood and my long research helped me to choose few best ones out of the many wonderful cars…
Unbiased, and based on their design, innovation, performance, safety, value, driver satisfaction and market reviews, I have categorized and ranked them personally. Here are the top 5 vehicles in 2001-10 decade:
Lexus LS 460 – Best Luxury Car
The superb LS luxury wannabe has won eight remarkable Kiplinger’s Best award, in the last 10 years. The Toyota luxury division launched its flagship in 1989 in Sedan. Proving its mettle, it was offered in much lower price than its Euro luxmobiles competitor, S-Class Mercedes. This technological leader was wonderfully crafted and it was the first car to be sold out in America that could park itself automatically. It was last redesigned in 2007. It’s price in 2011 is $66,255.
Toyota Prius – Best Economy Car
This energy efficient car is the most popular hybrid vehicle on the road till today! After its debut in 2001 in the American market, Prius struggled as a lot because of the new gas electric hybrid technology, but soon its green technology attracted many environment-friendly buyers including Hollywood. This alternative to energy car was redesigned 2 times in last 10 years and it is still affordable and more fuel efficient, peppier and roomier then the early models. Its price in 2011 is $23,810.
Chevrolet Corvette – Best Sports Car
Corvette is the 6th generation, and the refined version of Vette, which was first introduced in 1953. It is more like a European Sports version but slightly narrower and shorter than its predecessors, and yet more faster! Within flat 4 seconds, it clocks from 0 to 60 kilometer per hour. And furthermore, what made it won Kiplinger’s Best award six times in last decade? Its macho power, huge cargo room and tame price. Corvette is available in convertible models. Their latest models Z06 and ZR1 have 505 and 638 horse power respectively, with 200 miles per hour speed. Its approximate price in 2011 is $41,875.
Honda Accord – The best Family Sedan
Accord won 4 nods in Kiplinger rankings as it was the last decade’s best seller just after the Toyota Camry. It outshone Camry in the international market as Accord fans chose its sportier suspension, and a slight stiffer & more weighted steering than the Camry. They are available in variety of models such as modest LX or a near-luxury EX-L V6, with price ranging from $22,730 to $32,380 in 2011.
Chevrolet Suburban – The best Truck-Based SUV
The SUV-ization is an apt symbol of America, being a vehicle and a Suburban both. With its massive 90 cubic feet cargo capacity and moving prowess of more than minivans or up to nine passengers, this behemoth is my top pick in the Truck’s category. Its sales peaked up in 2001 and continued throughout that decade. Its price in 2011 is $41,875.
